Skin Boosters

Profhilo®

The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary ‘beneath the skin’ hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into skin, Profhilo® stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin.

Launched in the UK in 2016, Profhilo® has been hailed as a natural alternative product for restoring skin lacking in lustre, volume and glow. One of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo® not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue.

The Benefits of Profhilo®

  • Returns volume and firmness, and gives an overall lift
  • Stimulates elastin to reduce skin laxity and improves your skin structure
  • Stimulates 4 types of collagen growth through a bio-remodelling process
  • Hydrates your skin

How Does Profhilo® Work?

Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin.

As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.

Profhilo® has one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market (64mg / 2ml). The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement — so Profhilo® is more than a skin booster, as it also has a significant tightening and lifting effect on the tissue.

Areas That Can Be Treated

The face, neck, hands, décolletage and body can all be treated. Two treatments are needed, a month apart.

Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are rapidly gaining recognition as a revolutionary treatment in the field of skin rejuvenation. Offering a scientifically-backed solution for a range of skin concerns, from fine lines and wrinkles to acne scars and overall skin health, polynucleotides represent the cutting edge of non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

What Are Polynucleotides?

Polynucleotides are biopolymers composed of nucleotide monomers, which are the building blocks of DNA and RNA. In the context of skin treatments, polynucleotides are used to promote tissue regeneration and repair by stimulating the skin’s natural healing processes. Unlike traditional fillers, which add volume, polynucleotides work on a cellular level to improve skin health, elasticity and appearance.

The Science Behind Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are derived from natural sources, typically salmon DNA, which is known for its high compatibility with human skin. When injected into the skin, polynucleotides initiate a process known as “biorevitalisation”. This activates the skin’s natural repair mechanisms, leading to the regeneration of damaged tissues and the improvement of overall skin health.

How Do Polynucleotides Work?

  • Tissue repair and regeneration: they promote the proliferation of fibroblasts, the cells responsible for collagen production. Increased fibroblast activity leads to enhanced collagen synthesis, improving skin elasticity, reducing wrinkles and revitalising the skin’s texture.
  • Anti-inflammatory effects: natural anti-inflammatory properties help soothe the skin and reduce redness and swelling, making them particularly effective for acne scars or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
  • Moisture retention: polynucleotides bind water molecules, significantly enhancing the skin’s hydration levels. Well-hydrated skin appears plumper, smoother and more youthful.
  • Antioxidant protection: they protect the skin from oxidative stress caused by environmental factors such as UV rays and pollution, helping prevent further damage.

Benefits for Skin Health

  • Enhanced skin elasticity — firmer, more resilient skin, particularly beneficial for ageing skin that has lost its natural bounce.
  • Reduction in fine lines and wrinkles — regenerative properties help smooth the skin for a more youthful appearance.
  • Improvement in skin texture — refines rough skin, acne scars and other textural issues.
  • Long-lasting hydration — moisture-binding properties maintain a healthy glow.
  • Non-invasive with minimal downtime — return to normal activities almost immediately.

Who Can Benefit?

  • Ageing skin — fine lines, wrinkles or sagging skin.
  • Acne scars and other imperfections — scarring, enlarged pores or textural irregularities.
  • Preventative treatment — maintaining skin health before signs of ageing appear.
  • Sensitive or compromised skin — thanks to anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties.

What to Expect

  • Consultation: we assess your skin concerns, discuss your goals and determine whether polynucleotides are right for you.
  • Procedure: polynucleotides are injected into the targeted areas using fine needles. The procedure is generally well tolerated, and a topical numbing cream can be applied to minimise discomfort.
  • Aftercare: you may experience mild redness or swelling, but these effects are typically short-lived. You will be given detailed aftercare instructions.
  • Results: results develop gradually. Most clients notice improvements in texture, elasticity and hydration within a few weeks, with full results appearing after several months.

FAQ’s – Skin Boosters, Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Profhilo® and Polynucleotides?

Both are bio-remodelling treatments rather than volumising fillers. Profhilo® is built around an ultra-high concentration of stabilised hyaluronic acid, focused on deep hydration, elastin stimulation and collagen remodelling.

Polynucleotides work slightly differently, using DNA/RNA building blocks to actively repair damaged tissue at a cellular level, which makes them particularly effective for scarring, sensitive skin and overall tissue quality. Which is best for you will be discussed at your free consultation.

How many sessions will I need?

Most clients have a course of 2 sessions, spaced around a month apart, for Profhilo®, and 2–3 sessions for Polynucleotides.

Some concerns, such as more established scarring, may benefit from additional sessions, which will be discussed and tailored to you at your consultation.

Is there any downtime after treatment?

Both treatments are non-invasive with little to no real downtime. You may notice mild redness, small bumps at the injection sites, or slight swelling for a short time afterwards, but most clients return to normal activities the same day.

When will I see results?

Results build gradually rather than appearing instantly, as both treatments work by stimulating your skin’s own repair processes. Most clients notice improved hydration and texture within a few weeks, with fuller results in firmness and tone developing over the following months.

Which areas of the body can be treated?

Both treatments can be used on the face, neck, hands and décolletage, and are also suitable for the under-eye area and other areas of the body affected by laxity, dehydration or scarring. Your practitioner will confirm the best areas to target during your consultation.

Are these treatments suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. Both Profhilo® and Polynucleotides are generally well tolerated, and Polynucleotides in particular have natural anti-inflammatory properties that can benefit sensitive or compromised skin. A full consultation and patch test discussion will always take place beforehand to ensure the treatment is right for you.
