I am very moved to put this story up on my website. This story is very personal and amazing which make’s me feel proud to be the person who has helped Sue, and make her realise that unwanted facial hair is not something you have to ‘put up with’, but something that can be treated successfully. This is her story, in her own words.
“I have a friend called Emma who I found myself talking to whilst away in Croatia about having to shave my whole face twice a day. I thought I had accepted it as my ‘thorn in my side’. It wasn’t painful ( apart from the odd razor nik! ) and I often thought some people deal with huge issues or pain in there life, so what am I complaining about? I had started having facial hair when I was a teenager and would spend half an hour every morning plucking the hairs in the middle of my chin. I then started having electrolysis on my upper lip which was very painful and left scars so I gave up. Roughly forty years later and I was coming home from work especially to shave a second time each day, as it was very visible . I tried to be confident and not worry about it .
I am a driving instructor so was very aware that my pupils could easily see me as ‘the bearded instructor’, and I would often be embarrassed for them as the pupils didn’t know where to look. I would go out with trepidation , and had a fear of close up photos. I felt if I put my make up on it showed up like a beacon. My four sons and husband have always accepted it as part of me but I always felt embarrassed for them especially there friends! They must have talked about it?
Emma said I should try laser and had previously had treatment with Sarah so new it would be effective. I had IPL in the past and it had not worked. Emma brought me for a free consultation to discuss my hair with Sarah. She explained that laser is very different to IPL, and my past experience couldn’t be any marker of how laser would work. The fact that it is clinically proven is a huge difference, and that Sarah uses medical grade lasers was really comforting .
I felt very comfortable because of Sarah’s history of being a laser trainer, and what she doesn’t know about laser’s isn’t worth knowing. Sarah took the time to explain the whole process properly so I understood exactly what I was starting. I was a little scared of any pain ( don’t like pain!) but Sarah is completely professional and reassuring, and in fact the cold air was distracting and it is really just a quick ‘Ouch’, which I didn’t mind.
It was over very quickly which was a nice surprise. After my first treatment, at first it looked more patchy and more obvious to me but within a week or so it was a hundred times better. I couldn’t believe it, still shaving but my skin was much smoother with hair free patches and I even stopped shaving my 6 o’clock shadow at tea time because I didn’t need to.
It makes me cry as I’m overwhelmed with the prospect of not having to worry what people think. I didn’t think it bothered me how wrong was I! My skin is unbelievably smooth and perfect and looks amazing. I trust Sarah’s plan for me completely and her professional advise and treatment. It is completely worth the 3 hour round trip it takes to get to Sarah, because I know the treatment works.
I am now very very happy and confident in all situations, in the car with pupils, going out for dinner, chatting to friends, it has transformed my life- I’m now having singing lesson at 54 years old, have lost 11lbs in weight and the new me is energised and excited about the future. I am even considering speaking about my experience in front of thousands at a seminar when we have the chance to talk about like changing moments.
I have also uploaded a close up photo of my face onto my Facebook profile picture- 1st time in many years!
A dream I never dared to dream.”
